This elegant yet comforting bisque combines sweet crab and tender shrimp in a velvety, seasoned broth. Luxurious enough for special occasions but simple enough for weeknight dinners, it’s a seafood lover’s delight.

Ingredients

For the Seafood

  • ½ lb shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • ½ lb lump crab meat, fresh or canned (drained)

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • ½ tsp Old Bay seasoning (optional)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Bisque Base

  • 3 tbsp butter

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 1 celery stalk, finely chopped

  • 1 small carrot, finely grated

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour

  • 3 cups seafood or chicken broth

  • ½ cup dry white wine (or additional broth)

  • 2 tbsp tomato paste

  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 1 cup whole milk

For Garnish (optional)

  • Chopped fresh parsley or chives

  • A drizzle of cream or lemon wedge
